DIY Immunity Shot

Do you want to boost your immunity? Try making an immunity boosting shot at home! My favorite immunity boosting shot is ginger lemon shots, which are packed with vitamins, antioxidants and natural citrus flavor. They only take 5 minutes to make, and you need very few ingredients to get this concentrated wellness formula!

Ingredients:

Fresh Ginger: Fresh ginger boasts anti-inflammatoryantibacterialantiviralantioxidant,and more healthful properties that help to ward off germs and ease a cold or flu.

Fresh Lemon Juice: Lemons are an excellent source of vitamin Cfiberpotassium and antioxidants. Vitamin C helps to boost the immune system against the cold and flu and neutralizes free radicals (a reason why I use a lot of vitamin C in my skincare products, like the Regenerating Serum).

Turmeric: Turmeric has many scientifically proven health benefits for your body and brain. Curcumin, an active compound in turmeric, has strong anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Curcumin is also said to keep blood sugar levels steady, improve brain function and may lower the risk of heart disease and even cancer. You can read a post I wrote dedicated to turmeric here.

Black Pepper: Research suggests black pepper can increase the absorption of turmeric by 2000%.

Raw Honey: I like to use a small amount of raw honey to add some sweetness to the shot, as ginger can get a bit spicy, and it also has some health benefits such as having antioxidants.

Directions:

You will need a high-speed blender to make the immunity boosting shot.

  • Peel 1 lemon.
  • Chop 1/4 cup fresh ginger root and 1/4 cup turmeric into small pieces.
  • Place the ginger and turmeric pieces (or turmeric powder) in the blender.
  • Add a touch of raw honey.
  • Add a pinch of black pepper.
  • Pulse until well blended. If necessary, add a little water to help blending.
  • For the best ginger shots, strain through a fine strainer, cheesecloth or nut milk bag and squeeze all liquid out.
