Editor’s Notes: What’s the next act for the star of Highsnobiety’s gaming White Paper? A collaboration with Ray-Ban that Arca described on Instagram as “glam doll horror.”

Here, Arca updates Ray-Ban’s classic Aviator in two colorways: the first sets charcoal gray lenses in black metal frames, and the second pairs clear, photochromic lenses with white metal frames. Both styles boast a double bridge with leather sweatbars, adding a touch of drama to the shades (they’re limited to 200 pairs so run, don’t walk).

Arca’s music is just as avant-garde as her style, innately lending itself to the world of fashion collabs — a sector the artist has broken into but has yet to fully explore.

In June, the KiCk i mastermind starred in Bottega Veneta‘s “Wardrobe 02” campaign, spotlighting her in a green, paillette-embellished dress. And in 2018, she worked with SSENSE and Prada to drop a capsule collection of merch commemorating her performance-cum-installation, “Tormenta.”

Looking even further back, Arca once modeled for Hood By Air. A longtime friend and collaborator of Shayne Oliver, she walked the Paris Fashion Week runway for the designer’s experimental label in 2015.

Given the star’s musical reach and distinct style (which she describes as “warrior princess“), it’s somewhat surprising that her resume of fashion collabs remains relatively abbreviated.

It’s easy to imagine the musician modeling and partnering with a host of luxury labels — including but not limited to Balenciaga and Gucci. Perhaps this Ray-Ban partnership is a sign of things to come.
