Editor’s Notes: Reebok’s weirdest shoe just got a little weirder, thanks to an infusion of GORE-TEX.

The Instapump Fury, an instantly recognizable silhouette, is retooled as a GORE-TEX-lined high-top. A neoprene upper, overlaid with electric lime paneling, secures at the ankle with a zipper, giving the close-fitting shoe a more substantial, boot-like feel.

Hits of red at the heel and toe ensure your feet won’t go unnoticed.

The Fury was entirely futuristic when it initially released back in 1994 and 27 years later it’s still pretty ahead of its time. Thanks to its experimental look, the sneaker has proven fertile ground for collaborations.

Pyer Moss revamped the Fury with a hefty spiked sole, Vetements covered it in graffiti, Maison Margiela turned it into a platform Tabi boot. There’s even a Reebok x Jurassic Park Instapump Fury, complete with bright dinosaur stripes and a T-rex-embossed Pump.

It was only a matter of time before the sneaker got GORE-TEX’d. The technical membrane, widely respected for its waterproofing abilities, has become something of a hot commodity in fashion.

As the line between performance wear and streetwear continues to blur, brands including Stüssy, Supreme, and Palace have incorporated the weatherproof fabric into their collections.

Mirroring GORE-TEX’s technical origins, the Instapump Fury is, despite its conspicuous look, a performance running shoe — its Pump system allows the wearer to inflate and deflate certain areas of the sneaker, allowing for a completely customized fit.

Sprinting through the rain or strolling through the streets, Reebok’s GORE-TEX Instampump Fury is un-missable.
