• The World Government Summit 2024 was organised from February 12-14 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates with the theme of "Shaping Future Governments."
• The summit aims to foster international cooperation and empower governments to identify innovative solutions for future challenges, thereby inspiring the next generation of government leadership.
• The event featured over 23 ministerial meetings and roundtables, with more than 200 speakers and 120 government delegations participating in over 120 interactive sessions and workshops across 15 forums​​.
• The World Government Summit, since its inception in 2013, has been a global platform dedicated to shaping the future of governments by harnessing innovation and technology.
• Established under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the summit has played a pivotal role in establishing a new model for international collaboration to enable the next generation of governments. The summit's mission is to inspire and enable future governments, with a vision to become the global platform for this purpose. 
• Historically, the summit has hosted a range of forums and events, such as the Museum of the Future, which explores the future of science, technology, and innovation, and the Global Dialogue for Happiness, focusing on happiness and well-being in governance. Another notable event is the Global Artificial Intelligence Forum, which discusses the governance and ethical considerations surrounding AI technology.
• The summit also acknowledges exceptional contributions to government innovation through awards like The Best Minister Award and the Global Universities Challenge. 

• The World Government Summit (WGS) is an annual event that serves as a platform for global dialogue, exchange of ideas, and the sharing of best practices in governance. The impact of the summit extends beyond the event itself, as reports are produced throughout the year to examine key topics in-depth and offer new perspectives and solutions to complex problems faced by governments worldwide. These reports provide evidence-based guidance to policymakers, facilitate collaboration between stakeholders from different sectors and regions, and position WGS as a thought leader in shaping the future.

• The summit has also developed tools such as the City Readiness Tool, which assesses a city's exposure to hazards, vulnerabilities, and institutional capacity using key performance indicators to inform policy development and decision-making. Additionally, the Tech Radar tool helps government officials and decision-makers stay informed about emerging technologies and trends in government and public service, supporting informed decision-making regarding the adoption and implementation of innovations.

• Furthermore, the World Data Visualization Prize, conducted in partnership with Information is Beautiful, celebrates the power and beauty of data by challenging the global data visualization community to create artistic works around future government themes. These visualizations aim to provide insightful and reliable evidence-based mechanisms for policy-making.

• To ensure the continued positive impact of the Summit, a range of reports, articles, and publications are produced based on the discussions and insights from the event. These materials are designed to be informative, relevant, and easily accessible to a wide range of stakeholders. The Summit has established an online repository called the Observer, which provides access to a decade’s worth of insightful content to support the development of innovative solutions and best practices in governance for years to come.
